I’m an employee engagement specialist with almost 30 years’ experience helping organisations build workplace cultures that people don’t want to leave.
Growing up, the only child of two partially deaf parents, I learned what happens when voices aren’t truly heard: people disengage, disconnect, and eventually walk away. That lesson has shaped my entire career.
I see the same thing in workplaces every day. Employees speak up, but nothing changes. HR teams work hard, but engagement initiatives don’t land. Leaders are frustrated, turnover is high, and good people are quietly leaving.
The solution isn’t a tick-box initiative, it’s not about forced fun or compulsory pizza parties. It’s about creating a culture where people feel heard, valued, and safe to contribute, and where HR is supported to make that happen.
