Simon Chapman

I’m Simon Chapman, founder and director of Cornerstone Build by Design, a residential building company working across Berkshire, Surrey and London. We help homeowners transform their properties through extensions, renovations and thoughtfully designed living spaces, with a focus on quality workmanship and a personal service.

My career in construction spans more than two decades, with a background in carpentry, joinery and construction management. That experience gives me an understanding of both the practical work on site and the planning and coordination needed to deliver a successful project. I remain personally involved throughout, working closely with our clients and our team.

We offer a complete service, supporting clients from their initial ideas through architectural design, planning permission and interior design to construction, project management and final handover. Our work ranges from kitchens, bathrooms and bespoke joinery to full refurbishments, structural reconfigurations, extensions and external landscaping. Whether someone is improving their existing home or taking on a larger transformation, we help them understand the process and make informed decisions along the way.

Trust, honesty, transparency and reliability are central to how we work. For me, a successful project is about the relationship with the client as well as the finished result. We take time to understand how people want to live in their homes, communicate openly and pay attention to the details that make a space work for them.

Through Open Doors, I’m looking forward to building relationships with other local businesses, particularly architects, interior designers and property professionals. An ideal introduction for us is a homeowner considering an extension or substantial renovation who wants an experienced, approachable team to guide and manage the project from start to finish.
